The DITSONG: National Museum of Natural History (Ditsong National Museum of Natural History-DMNH)

The DITSONG: National Museum of Natural History is located in Pretoria, South Africa. It is one of the largest natural history museums in South Africa. This records presented here are of specimens collected from Somaliland by teams led by a zoologist from DMNH. The primary specimens will be located in DMNH; if duplicates are available, the first set will be donated to the source country once they have been identified, if that country has the ability to house them safely. Currently, Somaliland is unable to house specimens of animals other than insects. Making records of collections deposited elsewhere available on this site will provide easier access to information about Somaliland's species and, it is hoped, encourage Somalilanders to learn more about the country's biodiversity. Catalogue numbers will be added when they are available.
