Litocranius walleri (Brooke, 1879) and Litocranius sclateri Neumann 1899 differ mostly in the size of their facial features and the presence or absence of a band of hairs on the back of the neck which point towards the head rather than the tail.
In Litocraniums sclateri, the head is larger (males average length 248-259 mm, females 226-231 mm), other crania; measurements are also much larger than in Litocranius walleri . It does not have a band of reversed hairs. It is more northern in its occurrence, liiving from the Berbera region west to just over the Ethiopian border and in Djibouti.
In Litocraniums walleri, the head is smaller (males average length 211-241 mm, females 207-212 mm), other cranial measurements are also much smaller than in Litocranius sclateri. It does have a band of reversed hairs on the back of the neck. It lives from northeast Tanzania through Kenya to Galcaio in east-central Somali, north of the Webi Shebeyli.
