The Ethiopian swallow, unlike other other closely related species, has a white or very pale buff-coloured throat, an incomplete blackish throat band, and a tail with large white spots that is noticeably shorter than that of its relative the barn swallow. Ethiopian swallows are fast flyers, doing little gliding and often flying very low over the ground.
Diet: Ethiopian swallows feed on flies(Diptera), Hymenoptera (including bees and flying ants), termites (Isoptera) and cicadas (Cicadidae). They feed in pairs or small groups, eating when in flight and by taking non-flying insects from walls.
