Geographic range:his species was described from an unspecified locality in French Somaliland [Djibouti]. It shows a distribution in the hot, arid lowlands in the northeast of the Afrotropical region (Schoolmeesters 2011). Its extent of occurrence is not known, but is probably very large based on the list of countries from which it is reported. The traced localities are in the Ethiopian xeric grasslands and shrublands (AT1305) ecoregion, which comprises an area of 152,200 km2.
Habitat and ecology: There are no habitat data available for this species other than information which may be inferred from the locality data.
Although cited from a wide area in arid northeast Africa, there are published localities only from Ethiopian xeric grasslands and shrublands (AT1305) (ecoregions based on Olson et al. 2001).
The species appears to show a distribution in the hot, arid lowlands in the northeast of the Afrotropical region where environmental conditions at two exact published localities are: altitude 11-14 m; annual rainfall 72-134 mm; annual temperature 29.9-30.0oC (max. + min. /2).
