Circaetus cinereus is usually entirely brown, but some individuals have some white feathers. The juvenile eagles stay around the nest for 60-100 days, until they fledge. Juveniles are completely independent a few weeks after fledging.
Circaetus cinereus is of average size, reaching only 60-70 centimeters in height. It lives only 7-10 years.
